Cover reveal: Circle of Shadows by Evelyn Skye

Evelyn Skye, the author of The Crown’s Game duology is back with a new book! This one’s coming out January 22 2019 and the cover is soooo pretty.

What it’s about:

Sora can move as silently as a ghost and hurl throwing stars with lethal accuracy. Her gemina, Daemon, can win any physical fight blindfolded and with an arm tied behind his back. They are apprentice warriors of the Society of Taigas—marked by the gods to be trained in magic and the fighting arts to protect the kingdom of Kichona.
As their graduation approaches, Sora and Daemon look forward to proving themselves worthy of belonging to the elite group—but in a kingdom free of violence since the Blood Rift Rebellion many years ago, it’s been difficult to make their mark. So when Sora and Daemon encounter a strange camp of mysterious soldiers while on a standard scouting mission, they decide the only thing to do to help their kingdom is to infiltrate the group.Taking this risk will change Sora’s life forever—and lead her on a mission of deception that may fool everyone she’s ever loved.
Love, spies, and adventure abound as Sora and Daemon unravel a complex web of magic and secrets that might tear them—and the entire kingdom—apart.

The cover!

I was excited before but now I’m counting down the days!

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was started by The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday there’s a different topic. This week’s topic is Top Ten freebie! I chose to do Top Ten book covers I would love to recreate.

10. fallen big Fallen – Lauren Kate. I live near a lot of forest and I have long dark hair. With the right clothes, this one seems doable.

9. hunted-spooner Hunted – Meagan Spooner. It’s actually snowing right now.

8. way to game the walk of shame The Way to Game the Walk of Shame – Jenn P Nguyen. The heels may be a problem but I walk like that a lot.

7. falling kingdom Falling Kingdoms – Morgan Rhodes. It would probably have to be a backdrop but this just seems like posing would be so much fun.

6. great hunt The Great Hunt – Wendy Higgins. I seem to have a thing for covers showcasing the woods.

5. stalking-jack-the-ripper Stalking Jack the Ripper – Kerri Maniscalco. I really want to wear this outfit.

4. inside of out The Inside of Out – Jenn Marie Thorne. Another one that seems totally doable with a couple of assists from friends.

3. girl against the universe Girl Against the Universe – Paula Stokes. There’s plenty of tennis courts in my area. I could do this.

2. second chance summer Second Chance Summer – One of the few things we have more of than trees is water views.

1. unexpected everything The Unexpected Everything – Morgan Matson. Not only would I get to re-create a cool cover but I’d get to pet dogs and eat ice cream. Seems like a win.

Book Haul

I haven’t done one of these in a while and with renovations making it hard to continue the Exposing My-Shelf feature(which will have to start at Shelf 1 when it does return), this seemed like a good time to start doing some haul posts again.

Top Ten Tuesday was started by The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday there’s a different topic. Booking Sunday Favourites: Paranormal Cover

I’ve done contemporary, dystopian, and fantasy so it’s on to paranormal this week. And my choice is actually a trilogy, which may be cheating a bit but I can’t choose between them.

madman's daughterher dark curiositycold legacy

The Madman’s Daughter trilogy by Megan Shepherd. I love the dresses, not seeing the girl’s face, the scenery, the overall feel of it. They just suit the books so well.

Booking Sunday Favourites: Fantasy Cover

This week’s choice was easy for me. I fell in love with this cover the second I saw it.

snow like ashes

Then I read the book and fell in love with that too, which made me love the cover even more. It’s just so pretty but it has meaning to the plot, which I love when that happens.

Waiting on Wednesday

New WoW

This is a feature started on Breaking the Spine that puts the spotlight on upcoming books.

This week’s pick is:

Winters Fall

Winter Falls

Release Date: December 9th 2014

Goodreads: Alessia Jacobs is a typical sixteen-year-old, dying to get out of her small town of Twin Willows, Maine. Things look up when a new family comes to town, but when she falls for the hot, mysterious son, Jonah, her life turns upside down.
Weird visions of transforming into an otherworldly falcon are just the beginning. Soon she learns she’s part of the Benandanti, an ancient cult of warriors with the unique power to separate their souls from their bodies and take on the forms of magnificent animals.
Alessia never would’ve suspected it, but her boring town is the site of an epic struggle between the Benandanti and the Malandanti to control powerful magic in the surrounding forest.
As Alessia is drawn into the Benandanti’s mission, her relationship with Jonah intensifies. When her two worlds collide, Alessia’s forced to weigh choices a sixteen-year-old should never have to make

Why I’m excited: Shape-shifters(unless it’s wolves) are usually in the background so a book that features them definitely makes my TBR list. I also really like the names of the two characters and the feuding warriors. And the cover is so pretty.

Cover Reveal!!!!

Cover reveal for the book A Shard of Ice by Alivia Anders, it’s the first book in a new series called the Black Symphony Saga and will be released next year, April 14th 2014.

When 13-year-old Lilix Morgan is found alive and floating on a bed of ice at sea, everyone counts it a miracle. Kidnapped nearly four weeks earlier, she remembers nothing of her mysterious abduction. When she tries to remember what happened, she hears only a melody – a faint and delicate set of notes, strung together in a tune she doesn’t understand.

A year later and desperate to put the lingering nightmares of her past behind her, Lilix crosses the country to enroll at Baelmorte Academy, aiming to become the violinist she once dreamt of. Things seem to be finally going well, and Lilix settles into a routine of sheet music and inspiration among new friends.

Then the dreams start.

The melody and night terrors she thought she’d left behind return with a vengeance, threatening to ruin her fragile version of normalcy. Then an unlikely ally tells her that she isn’t alone. That there are others just like her, fighting to hide their own shocking truths from coming to light. That they know who she is, and what she’s been through. Now, accompanied by four other girls, Lilix discovers her nightmares are larger than a single trauma; they’re a window to a hidden part of her soul, a place of immense power with a destiny that cannot be ignored.

With this knowledge comes a new and frightening reality. For Lilix has been reawakened to stop an age-old enemy, one thought to have been destroyed centuries ago. Trapped by her destiny, Lilix is torn between what feels right and what she remembers. Her memories tell her of a star-crossed love waiting to be reunited, of friendships and trust broken in the past. But can she save that love when reality brings her an enemy, and an evil that will be the undoing of them all if they don’t destroy it?

This cover is absolutely gorgeous and the book sounds really good. It’s definitely on my to-be-read list. And the cover…is it too early to vote for it for cover of the year? I can’t get over how amazing it is. Take a look below.
