Booking Sunday Favourites: Character growth arc

This week’s all about the character growth. I can forgive a lot of problems in a book if the growth arc really stands out as believable and entertaining. There wasn’t anything to forgive in the book I did choose, it was amazing, but it’s definitely one of the most standout growth arcs I’ve read in a while. The amount the main character grew in the first book had me wondering what would be left for the rest of the series.

The Girl of Fire and Thorns

Elisa starts off as the youngest daughter of a king who has no confidence in herself, her abilities to be a princess and a wife, her appearance. Throughout the book, as she journeys to her new home, circumstances force her to fight. The person she is at the end of the book is almost unrecognizable compared to who she was at the beginning but the way it was written, the change was believable and necessary.

I LOVE this series!! Elisa is such a real, awesome heroine, which is especially fun to see in a fantasy series.
